With the opening of Sundance’s first retail store in Corte Madera, California, the brand—founded by Robert Redford—approached Juli Shore Design to develop holiday packaging that would stand out in a physical retail environment Previously focused on mail-order and online sales, Sundance now required packaging with strong shelf appeal to support this new channel. It felt like Christmas arrived early when a shipment of holiday gifts landed at our studio: blown-glass ornaments, lollipops, wine accessories, vintage teapots, pet accessories, and more—all needing protective, gift-worthy packaging with instant visual charm.
JSD partnered with international vendors in each product’s country of origin to source the ideal packaging materials—ranging from set-up boxes and paperboard tubes to canvas pouches, cello bags, and custom hangtags. To enhance each structure, we commissioned illustrators to create bespoke artwork celebrating the handcrafted, eclectic character of this 20-SKU holiday assortment. Color, typography, and form were explored to express the personality of each item while maintaining a cohesive seasonal story. The project concluded with full production oversight, including print mechanicals, proofing, and press checks.
